Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue 2026 – A Space Connecting Global Values
A Multilateral Foreign Affairs Event of International Scale
On 11 September 2026, the third Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue officially took place in Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. Chaired by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the event brought together nearly 500 delegates from 35 delegations of localities and international partners from nearly 20 countries.
The program was attended by representatives of regulatory agencies, localities, diplomatic missions and international organizations, as well as domestic and foreign business communities. Its scale and diverse participation show that the Friendship Dialogue is not merely a ceremonial meeting but also a forum where the parties share experience, identify opportunities and seek avenues of cooperation suited to the new context.
“Local Diplomacy” on the Journey to Sustainable Development
The theme “Local Diplomacy: A Driver of Innovation and Sustainable Growth” affirms the role of localities in connecting resources, sharing initiatives and turning friendly relations into practical opportunities for cooperation.
The event championed the spirit of moving from “cooperation” to “co-creation” on a foundation of trust, understanding and respect for differences. Within this, Vietnamese tea culture became a familiar touchpoint that opened the way for friendly dialogue.

A Vietnamese Tea Culture Space at an International Event
As part of the program, DOIDEP offered a tea-tasting space where delegates could experience Vietnamese tea culture first-hand. Here, attendees could watch the art of tea brewing, savor the flavors of tea and feel the spirit of hospitality expressed in every serving gesture.
That space added cultural depth to a program otherwise focused on foreign affairs, innovation and sustainable growth. While the discussion sessions helped delegates learn more about Ho Chi Minh City's development direction, the tea experience brought them closer to the spiritual life and identity of the Vietnamese people.
Amid a colorful mix of technology, culture and cuisine, the art of tea appreciation presented by DOIDEP brought delegates closer to Vietnamese spiritual life and identity. Through this hands-on tea experience, DOIDEP affirmed that innovation and integration can still be built on traditional values when they are retold through a fresh approach suited to contemporary life.
